Girl Child Tupelo Hassman Rory hendrix lives with her mother in a trailer park called the calle. She narrates the complicated life they have and how they ended up living there. She wants to be a girl scout and knows the girls scout handbook by heart. Rory is academically gifted and competed in a spelling bee but intentionally mispells the word that will lead to her victory. Thinking, if she won she’ll lose her mother. You’ll keep rooting for Rory all through out, hoping that she will one day get out of there and for once not end up like her mother and grandmother. 3/5
